Rupert Raj has been a prolific community organizer in Ontario and Canada from the 1970s through to the modern day. He helped to found many newsletters and organizations with the purpose of helping transgender people in both the United States and Canada. The Metamorphosis Medical Research Foundation, for example, was created to research a prosthetic penis for trans men that would serve as an alternative to masculinizing transition related surgeries. Although decades ahead of the science, the work should be lauded. Raj continues to help the transgender community today as a trans-friendly psychotherapist in Toronto.
